ABC's Post Debate(s) Wrap-up Summary
This entry was posted on 8/22/2007 5:46 AM and is filed under uncategorized.
Hi everyone,
I would like to thank everyone, again, for your help and support in voting for my TBI question for the presidential debates! To highlight this HUGE success, which YOU made happen, I'll recap it all below:
- At the deadline for ABC's Republican debate question voting, the TBI question was ranked third in the most views with 5230 and second highest in the ranking at 4 1/2 stars!
- As a result, the TBI question was asked in the post debate Republican spin room and was featured LIVE on ABC cable channel on August 5, 2007.
- On Monday, August 6th, I uploaded my response to presidential candidate Representative Duncan Hunter's (R-CA) response, which was played on ABC's cable channel in heavy rotation the following several days (my co-worker told me the following Saturday that she turned on the TV, and there I was!). In case you would like the link to the entire question, response, and rebuttal, here it is: http://ugv.abcnews.go.com/player.aspx?id=577774.
- ABC's voting counters were reset to "zero" views and "zero" stars for all of the questions for the Democratic debate on August 19th. After a few days of voting, I was notified by ABC that my video made the "first cut". At the voting deadline for the Democratic debate, my TBI question had 1300 views and was rated 4 1/2 stars!
- However, my question was not used in the Democratic debate on August 19th or the spin room. I still consider the question a success for this debate because if the Democratic candidates were smart, they'd have their campaign committee scoping out the questions that the public is asking and may be possibly selected for the debate. With my TBI question being ranked in the top 5 the whole time, I'm sure that ALL candidates took notice of it.
From the response I've received from all over the country, I've never been so excited about getting the topic of traumatic brain injury in the public's eye - ok, maybe I was MORE excited when Bob Woodruff went public with this injury, but this is a close second! It has been absolutely humbling to know that I'm part of a GREAT bunch of other TBI advocates who want the best treatment, rehabilitation, and services for those who have suffered a traumatic brain injury. Taking the liberty to speak for all TBI survivors, I say THANK YOU!
If there is anything that I can do for you in the future, please let me know. For updates on what's new that I'm doing on the topic of traumatic brain injury in the future, please sign up to receive my blog updates on my website, www.DarcyKeith.com. Thanks again for all your help!
Your partner in TBI advocacy,
Darcy
